Now i know i'm supposed to be studying like real hard, since my first paper (yes u heard right, my first paper!!! When other people are already finishing!!!) is tml.

But.

The pursuit of academic excellence has dulled my brain sufficiently to cause the words on my notes to float aimlessly around my peripheral vision. So i went blog-surfing.

Anyone who reads Mr Brown's blog will know he has this autistic child. Sometimes he will blog about him and his wife's experiences handling Faith, and its really quite touching and inspiring lar.

YES I HAVE AN EMOTIONAL CORE OK! I DO GET TOUCHED ONE HOR!

Anyways, reading his blog made me remember this one time when i was taking the train home. Think it was 4 plus so the train was filled with smelly sec sch students, and errr, me. I remember there was this group of rowdy students from dunno-wat-school and they were making a lot of noise on the train, pushing each other, daring each other to go approach the pretty SCGS girls who were huddled in fear on the far end of the carriage. (Heh yes, i do have a soft spot for SCGS girls, comes from sharing a bus stop with them for 4 years, AND the fact that i was cooped up for up to 7 hrs a day with smelly boys BEFORE i get to go to the bus stop)

Then this mother boarded the train with her young son, who was making a lot of noise. Cos i was listening to my trusty IPod (which has finally died on me) i couldn't make out what they were saying but i knew she was scolding him lar. The scolding got pretty fierce cos i notice the whole train was staring at her, so i surreptitiously took down my earphones to find out wassup. I'm not kaypoh, just concerned.

Anyways, think the boy didn't like sitting on the train, as he kept clamouring to get off his seat, and whenever the train door opened, he would try to struggle away from his mother's grasp and make a mad dash for the door. The woman was making a valiant effort to hold on to his wrist. All this time the boy was shouting and screaming and he refused to listen to his mom lor. Then u know what those smelly boys did???

They actually mimicked him.

Yes.

I couldn't believe how insensitive and childish they were. They actually imitated the way the boy was screaming and shouting and laughin at each other's wonderful oscar-deserving performance. As the boy shouted louder and louder, so did the smellies. I think at this point, the whole carriage was quiet except for the boy and the smellies, and everyone was transfixed. The mom got so frustrated and embarrassed at what the smellies were doing that she

Slapped her son. Real hard.

Immediately the boy stopped crying. Think he was too shocked too. One of the smellies had seen what had happened, and he quickly told his gang, then they finally quietened down. The mother was so traumatised by this whole incident that she suddenly pulled her child out at the next station (or maybe that was really her destination...hmm..aiyah dunno lar)

Throughout the remainder of the ride, the passengers kept casting dirty looks at the smellies. Then as i was sitting there, casting one of my dirty looks as well, it suddenly struck me that i could have done something. Why did i just sit there minding my own business when i could have just said someting to them, and stop their brilliant imitation of a monkey.

Is this the normal singaporean inertia that we always read about - like not giving up seats cos we paiseh to give up, or not stopping to help someone simply cos we're afraid of drawing attention to ourselves? There were at least 40 of us in that carriage, and no one actually bothered to speak up. Hmm but i guess a weak defence i can make in my favour is the fact that there were 5-6 of them, and 2 of them look like bouncers. Although with my agility and athleticism i'm sure i could have taken them on too. Hur hur.

Anyways, sometimes i'm really shocked by how insenstive we can be lar. Wah lao, crying boy they also want to make fun. I never go up to them say they're smelly they should be happy liao.

Ok lar end of this rambling post. Shall attempt to study again. Key word being attempt. Haiz. Oh i bought a new car lei. Had some spare cash so just bought one for fun lor. Nah here's the picture.

Err the people behind are just there to watch me drive off with the car lar. Hur hur.

Wow its the 28th of Nov, and i'm devoting my precious mugging time to hlogging. Ha. The simple reason is that i am seriously so so so sick of studying!!!

Doing some simple calculus, i've essentially been in school for 15 years. Wow. Thats a freaking long time. And finally i've reached the last stage of academia. No more foggy teachers in suspenders teaching me about the ratio theorem, which, incidentally to this day i still have no idea what its useful for. No more forceful memorising and subsequent regurgitation of historical facts, dates and inconsequential things that happened to someone really ugly a long time ago. No more writing politically correct essays about the perils of the mass media (come on, watching Saw doesn't make a normal person start hatching egolomaniacal plans to kill people la) or the importance of education (ha!!) No more waxing lyrical about the different legal theories behind the lex fori principle, and its application in admiralty law.

Muahahahahaaaa!!!

To all my non-yr 4 frens, hang in there. You still have some more suffering to do. Hur hur.

Yes i know i know. I haven been hlogging for a looooong looooong time. But what a semester it has been. Ha. With school stuff lar, CSC stuff lar, and personal stuff lar (heh i think some of u know lar hor...) i really have no time to myself, let alone entertain u guys with my poetic and entertaining posts. Hur hur. But, i shall set aside some of my precious time today and write a super long post, complete with nice pictures.

Anyways, got a lot of stuff to say, so i shall juz ramble whatever comes to my mind hor.

U know, there is a virus going around the campus. Its known as the Final Yr Syndrome (or FYS). Afflicted students suffer from lethargy, refusal to study hard for the exams, fantasise constantly about overseas grad trips to exotic countries, and generally choose to slack off when ever they have a chance. But truth is, when u have finished 3 yrs in NUS, given our system here, your class of honours is more or less determined already. So if u know that barring a miracle u'll never make it for the next class of honours, then give yourself a break, and enjoy life lar. Which is pretty much what i've been doing. Haa.

Because its my final year, sometimes i wonder to myself whether i've truly experienced NUS for what it is. Considering i spent 3 yrs in the kent ridge campus, i shld have an affinity for the school that provided me with my degree, and thus a stepping stone into society. But sad to say, i really dun think i'll miss my uni life. Yes i'll miss the friends i've made, the times i spent doing CAC and CSC stuff, and even my law school experiences like mooting, advocacy and even the tutorials. But as for missing the school itself, i wont.

Ok, to be fair, let me think carefully about the significant experiences in school, then maybe i'll reminisce more...

My Significant Experiences in School

  1. Studying for exams
  2. Mugging for exams
  3. Stressing about exams
  4. Complaining about the fee hike, until i realised it wun affect me.
  5. Complaining about the move to BTC
Yup, think thats pretty much what i remember of NUS. Ha. Sad hor.

Just found out that the Arts canteen is going to be demolished next Wednesday. So everyone shld rush there and eat at the BEST CANTEEN IN NUS FOR DUNNO HOW MANY YEARS. Yup maybe i'll remember the food then. The Western food, the laksa yong tau foo, the jap food. The staple diet that shrunk my 8-pec abdominal to the 6-pec i have now. Haiz... (ok i'm kidding. Obviously i dun have 6-pecs. But i have come to realise that guys dun need to be thin one. Rounder then cuter ma. heh heh.)

Ok on to a lighter mood...

Clubroom Clean-up!!

The 5th MC had to go school on a bright and early saturday morning to clean up the clubroom. Actually it was more like throwing stuff lar. Wah i dun even clean up my own house, and there i was clearing up the clubroom. Heh. I guy wat, and i maintain that guys should not do housework. Anyways it was damn siong but after a long long time we managed to move everything out and started cleaning the clubroom. The lasting memory of cleaning the clubroom is of Michelle screaming:

"I want to mop!!! I want to mop!!!"
Like machiam got ppl snatch with her like that.

The Clubroom after we moved all the shit out. And lixian standing there slacking. hur hur.

Part I of the stuff that we moved out.

Part II of the sutff that we moved out. Actually got Part III and Part IV but i lazy to take photo alr.

Then after the clean up still got MC meeting that lasted another 4 hrs!!! Argh!! Towards the end of the meeting, me and Xiqian were experimenting with different ways to sit on a chair. There's the normal posture, the Ah-Beng-Squat, the leaning back on 2 legs, and my fav, the slouch until can see your tummy posture. Ha.

Edmund & Zhaoxin Birthday!!!

Yup due to my brilliant idea, we celebrated Edmund's and Shihui's birthday at Sentosa on Deepavali, since that day the haze not so bad liao. It was supposed to be a potluck but i remembered eating a lot of bread. Thats all. I dun think girls nowadays can cook anymore. Ha.

Anyways our programe for sentosa also qutie funny. We went all the way there to the beach to play.....Bang!!! Yes we just played that card game the whole day. Ppl go Sentosa to play beach volley, show off their taut bodies, get a tan, enjoy the water, and us? We played card games. Ha. But thanks EK for your games!!! Though we were too dumb to understand and play all the games lar.

The Melted Cake that Winson Bought.

A super un-glam sneakily taken photo of Zhaoxin cuttin the cake wihtout Edmund.

I lazy to rotate the photo lar.

We had dinner at Billy Bombers and i shared this burger with Winson. I know it sounds gay but this burger cost 30 bucks ok!??!!?!! Supposed to be enough for 2 persons but where got...Anyways u're supposed to eat it layer by layer, cos i cockanathan go and ask the waitress how to eat. Like machiam can eat the whole burger at a go like that. Ha.

The sandwich that the girls shared. Shit man size-wise its almost the same as my burger, but so much cheaper.

Ok before i go off, here's our video for M & O. We were supposed to make a video to highlight leadership and management skills lar, then obviously given my talent for acting i kena arrowded to act in the most unglam role. Heh but anything for my group!!! Group 3 Wan Sui!!! We got 15/20 for the video then the 'toilet scene' was awarded the best scene by my tutor among all the group videos he saw. Ha. Enjoy, and learn something hor.
