Met a friend yesterday on the train home after another trying night in the library trying to read about how people choose to die. She's doing her pupillage now and of course, the burning question in every law student's mind now is what the hell is pupillage and PLC like.

So of course i had to ask her lar, after making some small talk to set the mood.

And so...

Everything i heard is true: the late nights in the office (she goes home at 9 pm!!!), the scary judges, the amount of work u have to do, and the fact that i have to attend every single class during PLC or else i will kena.

Almost makes me not want to graduate.

There comes a time in your life when you start to question your decisions, and whether you do want to stick to them. I mean, when i first chose to do law, i didn't expect to get in at all, simply because i did not have stellar grades. But the good thing is, i do possess a certain linguistic ability, and coupled with my charisma, and charm, and eloquence, and intelligence, i was a natural choice. Heh.

And of course, the pay is darn attractive lar. Eh a lawyer is ranked at the top of the 6 professions that the Civil Service are basing their salary revision on ok?

But the fact of the matter is, you work for 10-14 hrs in the law firm day after day, week after week. Question then is whether its truly worth it. Its like doing so much research and readings and planning for a 10% assignment: sibei bo hua lei!

Ultimately though, i guess i'll just have to toughen it out for the next few years, and hopefully things will get better lar. Its exciting at the thought that you're going to be a full-fledged lawyer after 4 yrs of hard work (for other people lar, not for me.) Its scary at the same time. Not that i want to belittle other professions ah, but as a lawyer, you face your clients, your partners (my boss lar) and the formidable judges. Thats 3 layers of authority man. No joke.

Anyways, on a lighter note, i have recently discovered the best way to avoid boredom on the commute home. The revolutionary Sony PSP!!!

Watching my fav videos on my brand new PSP on the train hor really makes the journey zoom by. Although there is that little annoying habit of Singaporeans to stare at the screen of any shiny contraption a fellow commuter might be holding. That time i neh si squeeze into a seat between 2 fat guys, cos i wanted to enjoy my show in the comfort of squeezing between 2 fat guys. Later i realised they were staring at my screen. But thats not it. They only stared whenever a girl wearing bikini appeared (i was watching survivor lar, the girls are half naked most of the time) Fatty No 1 leaned so close i could smell his char siew rice dinner lor. The moment i switched to my Pro Evolution 6 then they reverted back to sleeping liao. Horny ass.

Going for NUS Cactus later (err its a dance and musical show...dun ask me abt the name). Need a break from dreary work.
